The New York Natural Heritage Program recently released their four-year status assessment of focal pollinator taxa in New York. This is the first statewide pollinator survey to thoroughly assess the pollinator conservation status using NatureServe status rankings. The Danforth lab collaborated on this effort. The report concluded that 38% of New York’s native pollinators are at risk of extirpation. In the worst-case scenario, as much as 60% of the native insect pollinator fauna may be at risk. See the report here.
