The Danforth lab recently partnered with collaborators from University of Wisconsin (Shawn Steffan), UC Davis (Rachel Vannette), UC Riverside (Quinn McFrederick), University of Arizona (Steve Buchmann) and Day’s Edge Productions to produce a short (18 min) video on our work on the interactions between bees and the microbes that inhabit the bee brood cell. These microbes are diverse, abundant and important for larval development in solitary and social bees. The video documents our collaborative research on the diversity of these microbes, their role in larval development, and impacts of fungicides on this highly specialized microbial community.
